First of two days. We fished up near the parking at the orchard. While swim access was difficult it was possible with a bit of care to find safe areas to fish. It was tough going for the barbel but the chub fed avidly. The barbel all came late in the day with the biggest going 6 1/2 lbs. Biggest chub was about 4 lbs. For me the best part of fishing there was the peace and quiet. No traffic noise. Very few walkers and only a small number of canoes compared to some of the other stretches I’ve fished.

Barbel weighed 6lb and 8lb. Chub about 3.5lbs. All 3 caught from the bottom field as light started to fade.

Very low and clear. A few suicidal chub caught, but none of any size worth noting. No Barbel. Most of the beat is unfishable due to low water levels, overgrown banks or lack of swim clearance. Considering the high cost for a day ticket, I think work should be done to make more of the river accessible.

We fished in the middle field choosing two pegs in the trees. On a warm and cloudy day the river was low and slow (for the Wye) but had a slight tinge of colour still. Several small chub and one around 3lb plus a couple of dace were caught on a variety of baits (meat, pellet, sweet corn). For the last few hours we moved further down stream but nothing was caught.

Water running low with not much colour - sunny conditions. Catches from Middle Field Section, Access not really possible top end of stretch. Feeder and pellet worked best.
