Last day of river season dawned, mild but windy, river had dropped 2 feet overnight and lost a fair bit of colour.
Chub interested in bread from the off, managed 6 upto 4 1/2lb, great condition, all tucked up under the snags,
fed mash bread and fished liquidised bread in the feeder, had lots of interest in big flake pieces, but had to drop to smaller hook size and baits to convert to fish on the bank.
No barbel activity on pellet or meat, water temperatures on way up but still below 6 degrees, as always couple of days on Wye great way to end the river season

River was steaming through so opted to try the lower stretch, plenty of fishable swims given the height, all had one thing in common. No Fish feeding.
Not even Chub were interested in the tried and trusted liquidized bread and flake on the hook.
Booked on again for last day, with river level dropping and water temperature rising we still have hope!!!!

Our first visit to Sugwas Court but unfortunately a combination of recent heavy rains and the snow melt saw us faced with a river that was very high and tanking through. This made swim selection very difficult so we eventually settled in where we found some slack in the lower part of the beat. The entrance to the top part of the beat by the orchard was impassable being very muddy with several large puddles so we did not attempt it. Neither of us caught but but were kept entertained by the kites above and a poor chap who got his 4x4 stuck in the mud in the opposite field, finally rescued after several attempts by his mate. We thought this was a lovely beat and will try again hopefully when the conditions are a little more favourable.

Didn't fish, the snow was closing in and it would have been pointless travelling.

The two of us had the whole beat to ourselves on this beautiful Autumnal day and the river was in good flow with good colour. The fishing all happened in the first hour and then went quiet, but it was such a beautiful day it was a joy to be by the river. We both fished swim feeders with maggot and pellets and also trotted maggot as we searched for the fish. I look forward to coming back

First blank on the Wye! Never fished this stretch before so did a lot of walking in the morning. The sky cleared up and temp plummeted in the afternoon so struggled. Did lose one fish, either a barbel that went over something sharp or a Pike (which I think is more likely). Also fell over, got chased by bullocks and impaled myself on a barb wire fence! Not the best day! Stretch looked interesting and varied but hard to relax with the curious cows and bullocks in the field.
