Worse day fishing of my life. Only one fishable swim which had nothing. Slippery banks meant it’s probably best I didn’t catch anything. Lugged my gear up one mile stretch and back to find fishable swims and only found one. River was high, had emailed on Thursday to ask what to do if river high and received no response. Called number repeatedly and no answer. Was visiting river wye for my 40th birthday, absolutely gutted.

River up and ripping through due to last nights rain. Not muddy though, more green?
Trotted red maggot, lost 3 small ones, don’t know what they were. Netted 2 OOS Brownies, one around 14”, great scrap in fast water.
As is usually the case on these small rivers a Chainsaw, Lopper and grappling hook would have been useful. Why all the barbed most of the way up the stretch. If it’s only to stop livestock falling in USE NORMAL WIRE SO FISHERMEN CAN HOP OVER SAFELY! Rant over.

2 Trout

First time at Eyton. River still high and turbid after recent rains but I wanted to visit before end of season. Managed one small grayling before an early finish.

Day 2 of our sesh on the Wye. Fishing a bit slower today, but the Barbel put in an appearance! Meat and paste again did the job. Mobile approach. Just fished the bottom section from the middle car park
