Arrived at 6am. First time here, lovely parking area. The river was low and fast and sparkling, looked amazing. Perfect beat to get my new Vision waders out. Access was excellent down to the river and along the rocks. Really beautiful peaceful place, plenty of bird life too. Spent a splendid day stood in the river at various sections, moving around. Caught fish all day on float fished meat but most caught on rolled flavoured meat. Super method when low and clear stood in the river. Carefully handlined all the fish without lifting from water, holding them to recover and off they went. Biggest Barbel around 7lb and Chub to 5lb. Canoe traffic was not a problem and everyone was polite, great to see the youngsters back doing their adventures. Cracking day to kick start the new season off. Thanks WUF for access to a truly picturesque venue.

Rather fortunately the lousy weather forecast during the week did not happen but probably helped keep the boat traffic down considerably....only 500 going past as opposed to the usual 5000 on sunnier days.Be prepared for plenty of swimmers too who sometimes take a break and stand up in your swim....gives you a good idea of depth though and I guess the fish are getting used to these new intruders.Fishing was very good and the Barbel were all a good stamp and nice sized fish....no sign of the pocket rocket Barblets which is unusual for here. Some good Chub too and caught a few 8oz fish and one clonking Dace trotting pellet and corn. The Barbel fought hard and I am delighted to report they were full of beans going back.

River seemed a funny colour, tough going. Had a twaite shad on fly which was nice. People fishing opposite bottom peg which I have never seen before?

Just one rod fished and a very enjoyable day on a somewhat battered beat.....previous posts have already highlighted some of the problems this stretch now has but this beautiful spot can still generate some good sport....I lost a Barbel on the float which was the only negative aspect of my visit and will look forward to returning next year.

Not worth fishing when the water is up on this stretch... couldn’t access the third pool and the other two were not able to hold a 6oz feeder so all in all difficult conditions.
