Only fished the afternoon for a few hours, the river was up a few inches from 2wks ago and the pace quicker which can make a lot of different on a shallow stretch like this one, it was also a lot Colder. The extra pace and cold water made it hard fishing .....

Fished bottom pool in the morning and caught 1 barbel around 5lb. Conditions were tricky with the river really rushing through after the previous day's rain. No more fish forthcoming so changed tack to trotting maggots in the afternoon. We had good fun catching chublets and dace before having another crack at the barbel. We moved to the bench swim which was still pushing through but seemed a bit more manageable. Had a barbel within 10 minutes and caught 6 altogether and another chub. Biggest weighed in at 9lb 8oz and had others at 8lb 10oz, 8lb 8oz and 7lb 5oz. All beautiful fish caught on feeder and pellet. Best looking and fighting fish I've ever seen. Absolutely cracking day. We will be back.

The river had risen significantly overnight and was racing through. Locating fish proved to be difficult. I fished a number of swims using feeder tactics with various hook baits with no success. Tried a rolling bait but just found snags. Switched to trotting down the inside edge below the bottom croy and finally found some fish. Only small chub and dace but non the less most welcome. My brother stuck it out in the bottom swim for the afternoon and was rewarded as darkness fell with a Barbel just over 5lb. Thank you to the WUF for another lovely day on the Wye.

Water quite low and clear so fished the end pool amongst the fast flow. I caught many small barbel but a few around 4lb, lost a fair few too. They were great fun in the faster water. Also fished from the crib, across towards the far trees in a deep run, the bigger fish swim to hold up there. needed 4oz to hold in the flow, all fish caught on pellet and feeder/bomb. Many thanks to Don for all his advice and tips over my time fishing across Courtfield and Wyebank, much appreciated ????

First time on this stretch with 2 guests. Conditions were not as we would have wished being low and clear with a sharp drop in overnught temperature and a cold East wind so we expected to struggle a bit. However, we did manage a couple of barbel with a third lost and a couple of chub so not too unhappy with that.

Great days fishing once we sorted the going method. River low and clear. Hard work wading rolling baits down the fast runs as they didn't touch a static bait but great fun. All the barbel and chub were in great condition. The other 2 fish were bleak and roach.

Water still up a little bit but falling slowly during the day. Difficult to find the fish, they seemed to be spread out a little bit. Learnt more about Salmon and the Wye from talking to Don for 30 minutes than I had in the previous 30 years. Great to talk to someone who is both knowledgeable and interesting.
