Arrived mid morning the river still up after the weekend rain tried a couple of swims on the way down to the end of the beat too pacey for a float but did catch the biggest dace I have caught in years caught barbel to 8lb and chub to just over 4lb on ledgered pellet and meat in between the action enjoyed watching an angler Spey casting for salmon in the intermittent sunlight

Sorry but first a moan. After hearing a bird chirping in the bushes for sometime I decided to look, as this seemed odd. I was saddened what I found. A robin caught up in a huge ball of fishing line. I cut all the line & released it. Wrapping up the line & putting it in my bag. There must have been nearly a full spool. Anglers please you are sitting amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the country don't spoil it with your arrogance. If I can take it home so can you. That said unfortunately a cold night coloured water & a very fast flow (even the canoeists looked scared) didn't look good. And so it proved just one small barbel. But always a joy to be on the Wye. Looking forward to next time. Thank you WUF

We arrived at wonderful Wyebank to find the river with reasonable colour and pace. With stunning scenery, blue sky and sunshine we knew we would be sharing the river with plenty of boat traffic but apart from a couple of guys who capsized (twice!!) everybody was in good spirits.
In the morning we caught some cracking Dace and a lively small Brown Trout but the float fishing switched off as the river started to rise rapidly. The water was considerably colder whilst wading and within a couple of hours boats were replaced by tree trunks and debris...
A switch to feeder found the Barbel on the move in the slacker water and we enjoyed some steady good fishing on this lovely beat once again.

River rising all day - lots of weed making presentation tricky and finding snags inevitable. 2 baby barbel and seven reasonable ones. Always an enjoyable day at Wyebank.

Fantastic day trotting for dace boosted by chub/chublets catching at 20-25 fish per hour the dace are in the 6-8oz range and chub/chublets 8oz-1.5lb. The 4 barbel were caught using pellet and feeder 2 around 5lb and 2 baby barbel about 1lb.

Weather good, water low and clear-plenty of canoeists who were all polite and considerate. Barbel and chub (one over 5lbs)on pellet, 3 small fish on float. Enjoyable day-even though results disappointing.

Another great day on the Wye. Fished the bottom pool. River was very low. Heavy canoe traffic. On the other side of the river (unfortunately in front of me) the cows visited several times. Fished till 17:00. All barbel were small but good to see this for the future of this picturesque river. Used feeder tactic. Thank you WUF.

An afternoon and evening session from 2.00 pm. River low and clear. Cloudy throughout with an hour's steady rain at first. Started with several bites and a couple of small barbel, but three or four fish lost to hook pulls or line cut on rocks. Fishing then went quiet until the last hour and a half when I had a few more fish up to 6.5 lbs. On a beat that has so many swims in a short length I probably should have explored some more water in the quiet afternoon period - but there's always next time!
