Travelled from Suffolk but even with a very early start wasn't fishing until 9am.
4 - nil to the barbel by 11am, then two were landed at around the 4lbs mark. A move to the Wharfe pool resulted in a two hour blank, and a move back to the last swim and a switch to luncheon meat immediately resulted in a number of "unhitable" bites, smaller hook and smaller Meat revealed the culprit to be an Eel, duly landed at about 1lbs. Back on the Halibut pellet resulted in the best fish of the day a Barbel, not 10lbs but certainly 9lbs+ and lost another that felt bigger. A further move back by the car park for the evening session proved to be a disappointment with no fish caught.
All in all a great day out on a fabulous stretch of water. However be aware that most of the swims are extremely snaggy and you can expect to loose a LOT of gear (and fish).

None caught or seen on a rising river but looks a good beat when river is right. Too weedy for spinning if water isn't right for the fly.

Fished from 6 to 9pm on an evening ticket. Picked up a good Chub on an Ally's from the Wharf Pool, plus had a pull near the island. Slight colour and good height. Great fly water.

Fished the Wyebank beat with friend, conditions were clear water and back to normal levels. Enjoyed a good day - caught 9 barbel but also lost about nine as well, had hook pulls, weeded fish and cut off on an annoying big rock that had to fish past to get to them. We also had 5 chub. All fish caught on halibut pellets with mesh pva bags and feeding more at regular intervals. Fished the last swim at bottom of the beat mid river in a deeper pool, morning best but got regular bites after 2pm through the afternoon.

This beat is a dream if you like fast water fishing for Barbel, Chub and Dace. The cribs produced good mixed bags. Again Don's advice was spot on. I think we benefitted from this beat being lightly fished to date due to the floods. Best rod took 21 barbel fishing morning and evening session. Some baby barbel as rare as doubles were a real treat. My favourite beat of the week. Again a dream location and a must on our return next year!

After several visits to Wyebank it was a joy to arrive and get set up for a days fishing. Conditions looked good with the river up around a foot and slowly dropping. The day was spent trotting and feeder fishing. It took a while to get the fish feeding but late afternoon the action started and the fish caught were 5 barbel 5 to 6lbs, 7 chub to 4lbs, lots of chublets, dace and a eel. Another joyful visit to this beautiful fishery and lovely to see it in its unspoilt natural state thanks to Dons expert management. Another visit soon me thinks....

My first time on this stretch and thanks to some very good advice from Don I had a very nice days fishing. In all I had 8 Barbel with 1 lost on rocks with a best fish of just over 7lb and the smallest at 2lb. I also had 2 Chub of 3lb each and 2 smaller Chub of 8ozs, all fish taken on swimfeeder with pellet hookbait. A very pleasant stretch of river and I look forward to another day soon.

18.30hrs, had seen grilse jumping below island last few days from our home. River low enough (just!) to wade out to island. Had one grise of 5 or 6lbs on small flying c with single hook and Wye weight above to hold it down.
19.30hrs, bottom pool of beat, only 15ft from bank in shallow eddy, 3 barbel largest weighed at 9lb 10oz on 20mm halibut pellet and loose fed sweetcorn in area.
21.00hrs saw salmon jump by Wharf Pool on edge of flow so put small flying c back on and similar size fish to first caught, this one was deeper in body and jumped clear several times.
All salmonoids released in water unharmed. Mixed evening !

Ken decided to fish Wyebank all day today but it fished hard with him managing 1 Barbel and 2 Chub to 4lbs 8ozs. Many thanks to Don for all his help this week. We'll be back.
