As with my first WUF session a fortnight ago at Lower Canon Bridge, I was impressed by the quality of information emailed to me before fishing.
Wyebank was different to L C Bridge. Here the water was pushing through fast but there were slower areas inside the cribs. Two 3lb barbel in 5 minutes to pellets and one other missed bite. To a river rookie the sight of tree trunks [and whole trees] going past was an eye-opener.
Heavy feeders needed on this stretch.

The river was up about 4 or 5 feet making the fishing a little difficult. Lost a lot of tackle but ended up with ten barbel and three chub between two of us. An enjoyable day in testing conditions.

A very wet evening on the banks of the Wye! We travelled down from Yorkshire today and got to the beat about 5pm. After what can only be described as an interesting walk/slide down to the peg we quickly took cover under our brollies.
M had 7 barbel and 2 chub and despite Dman fishing the same swim with the same tactics he couldn't get a proper bite. Very odd but a good laugh and a memorable evening as always!

Nice to be out again. Fast streamy water on the beat in the low flows didn't offer much in the way of holding for salmon but may do in higher water.
Following several flotilla of canoes I left the water after an armada of less-than-stable paddleboarders all fell in at the various ripples. Part and parcel at this time of year.
Perfect place to practice some casting.

Stunning beat but for whatever reasons it didn't get going till last few hrs, prob because of bright sunshine and clear water. Tried numerous baits and tactics but barbel eventually fed on pellets, weighing from 1lb up to 6lb also chub and eel made appearances.

Fishing here is brilliant, good action all day! If canoes and kayaks are a problem for you while fishing then maybe here is not for you. I'm not kidding when I say there are quite literally hundreds of them on this beat, more than I've ever seen. I'll admit it was quite tedious at times, having to reel in every time a big group came through. Many boats where capsizing along this beat due to fast flow and rapids. This not being the case I'd have caught many more fish. Be sure to take heavy tackle and plenty of leads, it's snag central out there! I lost 4 barbel in the bedrock so be careful. Can't wait to come back here, maybe on a week day when there's less boat traffic.

The river had risen significantly after recent rain and was carrying a lot of troublesome debris, including large branches and occasionally whole trees! It is evidence of how prolific the stretch is that, despite this and my bro being a relative river novice, we still caught a few barbel up to just under 7lb, although mainly considerably smaller.
Lovely river, but this is a tricky stretch to fish in high water.
