Once again the river was lower than the last visit. The barbel were all around the 4lb mark with a couple 14" fish. The chub were all the normal 2-3 lb mark although did catch a warrior chub of 4lbs 13oz. The biggest surprise was a monster chub of 6lbs 2oz - a beautiful fish. Will be much larger in the winter. Stunning!

First time on this beat enjoyed a pub lunch at the pub overlooking the beat then fished with my son from 2:30pm - 7:30pm. Some of the hardest fighting barbel ever up to 8lb caught on groundbait and pellet in swimfeeder. Really great day thank you. Lost several fish also due to hook pulls.

Great place to fish. Bank sides are rather treacherous in places and I fell numerous times on the way back to car. The fishing itself was a little fickle and the barbel weren't really on the feed that well but the chub munched all day long. Biggest was 5lb 1oz and biggest barbel was 8lb 1oz.

Fishing was tough with the quantity of kayaks and canoes around from 10am until 3.30pm but the chub fed very well. Biggest was 5lb 1oz and biggest barbel being 8lb 2oz. All fish fell to feeder fished pellets and boilies. Fished last swim on the beat into the edge of the fast water. Best action in the evening. Lovely venue but tread carefully when leaving. I fell badly a few times on the walk back as the path is very slippery and narrow.

Despite the thundery downpours, a great days fishing. Two of us taking fish throughout the day at regular intervals, with the better sized barbel turning up towards dark. Simple swim-feeder tactics with groundbait and pellets was all that was needed.
Chub between 1/2lb and 4lb, and barbel between 3lb and 7 1/2lb, with one fish taken at 10lb 3oz. The double was a very clean fish with no signs of recapture either.
Fantastic beat of W&U water. The only point i'd feedback is that access isn't the easiest, with a narrow path (very slippy if wet) down to most swims from the first peg of the beat, and some very steep banks if any other route down is attempted, it's much easier to take the bare basics down to the swim. Perfectly doable for most, but perhaps a little too risky for the older angler, especially if on your own.

8pm to 10.30pm. 7 barbel, 6 to 8lb and one that weighed 9lb 10oz all on large halibut pellet. Fish caught from main flow of bottom pool. On arrival caught 3 barbel in 3 casts on same pellet but then had half hour of intense Cob dispute over the new Pen in the area! Angler fishing in day had a hard day but evening produced as usual for the fickle Wye.
I wish to request that anglers consider what happens if they lose tackle. 2 reports so far this year of fish caught with hook, line and swim-feeder attached because the swim-feeder has been stopped both sides. Also anglers using light main lines with heavy break strain braid hook-lengths leaving long lengths of line in the fish and river. A very small majority are letting us down, if you see anglers using these rigs please comment to them.

An interesting stretch of the river, helpful advice from Rudy but unfortunately circumstances dictated that I only had a few hours on the river, will definitely return.
