First time on this section. Two of us fished the top end of Legg Meadow from around midday to 8pm. There were certainly plenty of canoeists, kayakers and paddle boarders. We even had a man come past on an inflatable pink flamingo. The canoe traffic eased up considerably after around 4pm.

In retrospect, it may not have been wise to concentrate all of our efforts in one place. We were hopeful that the fish would come over the feed once the various daytime disturbances subsided and the light began to fade. Despite ringing plenty of tactical and bait changes though, it was not to be.

We managed just a few Eels and had no sign of a ‘proper’ fish all day. That’s fishing I suppose, some days you just have to accept that its not your day. The river was carrying a brown tinge which I think was an algae bloom.

River was in decent condition, albeit a little tea coloured. Started on the lower end of the meadow. After a small chub second cast all went quiet for a couple of hours so I moved down into the wood where there was a bit more flow.
Nothing all day, I suspect due to the huge numbers of canoes coming through, then after the traffic had eased I had 4 bites in an hour and a half. First was clearly a barbel (and a good one I think) but spat the hook after weeding me up. Very next cast and it's gone again, Barbel of 9lb 7oz. Lost what felt like a chub a little later then another Barbel, this time 10lb 11oz! Action dried up as quickly as it started but I certainly wasn't complaining.

Arrived just after 9am. The fishing was very slow. We started off in the woods but later in the day relocated to the ferry pool end. Just as the evening started the fish seemed to switch on but just for a very short time. I managed 1 Barbel and 2 Chub with my mate loosing 2 fish. The other anglers I spoke to on the beat were also struggling.
