I arrived at Courtfield at approximately 6.ooam after a short 35 minute drive, the parking areas were easy to find after a bit of research on google maps the previous night.
After walking the length of the fishery checking out all the swims i decided to drop in on Legg meadow crib from here i took three barbel up to 6.8lb from a spot towards the far bank , three casts and three fish, at around 9.30 the first of the dreaded canoes started floating by which killed the action, so with this i decided to take a good look around, after a visit to the pub for lunch and a further walk round in which i decided to drop in to wood crib,at around 4.30 the canoes had now dispersed.
At first i fished half way out to where i was receiving indications of fish being present but found that the area was immensely snaggy and proceeded to lose a few feeders, i decided to fish another mark on the far bank under some overhanging tree in about three feet of water within two minutes of the feeder hitting the water i received a snatchy bite which produced a chubb of around 5lb, two furthers casts to same area then produced a 6.9lb and an 9.4lb barbel.
Stunning stretch to get you really thinking Drove home with a massive smile on my face.

Regards
Jonathan Dunn

Started fishing about 4pm. Fished until dark in the woods stretch in the fastest water I could find. Had first barbel about 5pm, 6lb 12oz added a second smaller one at dusk (about 4lb). Hard going which I expected in the sunshine, however, I thought I'd get more action at dusk. Lovely evenings fishing anyway. Both fish caught on pellet with PVA bags. Both fish fighting fit and in lovely condition.

Tough day, with only two very small fish (one barbel and one chub) between the three of us. Fished the same method and swims as the previous day, but with very different results. That's he way Wye fishing goes sometimes!

We fished all day from 7.30 till 20.15, all we had between us was one bite which after two seconds decided that was enough. A truly hopeless day!! Nice place but the fishing left an awful lots to be desired!

Arrived at 6am to find the river low and clear , despite the rain that fell in the catchment area the previous day. I elected to fish off the Wood Crib using an inline feeder and Krill pellets. Had a few knocks very early on then no action at all until the evening - tried various rig feeder/rig changes to no avail during the day - delighted to catch a couple of chub in the last hour when the light was fading. An angler who arrived a little later than I, who fished the next crib downstream, faired better by fishing tight to the opposite bank. A very scenic beat and an enjoyable day.
