A great few hours this evening in one of our favourite wood swims. Wasn't expecting the fishing to be very good with the river still running very low and clear, but we were very pleasantly surprised to find the barbel lining up for our halibut pellets. Quality fish of between 5lb and 8lb were joined by a single mini barbel of no more than 1lb and one very special fish, my dads first Wye double at 10lb 3oz. A much deserved reward for the many years spent fishing this beat taking barbel to an agonisingly close 9lb 15oz along the way. All fish in top condition as always. Great beat! Back in a few weeks.

Very difficult day on a low river and a very humid hot day, tried different methods but could not find the Barbel. Just one caught and two small chub. The wood stretch is very snaggy and we lost half a dozen feeders.
Note: very disappointed when arrived at one of the cribs to find at least 30m of fishing line on the croy and loads of rubbish which can only be from a fishermen as the rubbish was packaging from fishing related products. I took all this away but feel just had to mention my disappointment.

WUF note many thanks for removing the rubbish. What can we say that hasn't been said many times over?

Another really hot day , river very low , only fished dusk and dawn here , didn't bother trying in the middle of the day , it's been hard on the Wye this week , we lost 2 fish and we all blanked , fish seem to be biting but not taking the bait , frustrating !

Best day ever including my first 10!, 3 nines and an eight. Whole day was a bit of an experiment trying out some pellet rig changes recommended by a popular Wye guide so the plan was for a short session but what a session. River was low and clear with the usual canoeists all of whom behaved brilliantly.
Great day. Will be back for more.

Courtfield (woods) was fishing quite tough today, water was low and not much flow - I tried to locate some of the deeper water and used the classic feeder - pellet technique. The chub came early morning at around 5am then not a bite until a lovely 7.10lb barbel at 15:30. Cracking day in lovely location!

A tough late afternoon/evening with low, clear river conditions. We managed a few fish though, barbel to 9lb 8oz, a 3lb chub and an eel all falling to pellet. Great beat, fish in top condition.

Great day out on a very low Wye. Pellet and feeder doing the business. Some action first thing then more during the evening. Barbel to just over 9lbs. Oh and one eel.
