Water .57m and clear. Very warm evening 23deg and still 21 at 10pm. John and I fished the woodstream from 6 till 8pm. I had one offer and one trout of about half pound on the march brown spider on the dropper. John had two offers and no fish. I moved to the tail end of chine pool for the late evening rise which was quite good the week before, BUT TO MY AMAZEMENT THERE WAS NO EVENING RISE AT ALL up to 10pm when we left the water.
John had no further offers sub surface either. Maybe the week of hot weather has switched hatches to early morning?? Any comments welcome!!!

Hot and sunny. Few rises all day. Lost 1 x fish early evening just below rocks on a nymph. Was hunting a cracking 1ft+ fish spotted when 2 kayaks came down this section which has no navigation rights. It disappeared. 5 kayaks in all during the day. Plus a family from the caravan park fishing with the flag pole from their caravan - who when approached claimed they had "phoned the man who owns the river" and clearly had no idea of the notion of a closed season or private fishing. I imagine this scene repeated over many waters this summer unfortunately. I will return though.

A bit of a disappointing day, with very little sign of any fish, despite the water level and weather seeming ideal and plenty of fly life. No takes on dry or nymph fishing 7am - 2pm.

A truly wonderful morning to be on the Usk. Played a good fish just above the bridge which managed to escape capture. Shortly after a small school of fish passed through with a few jumps on their way.. There seems to be plenty of fish at the moment and the river is very fishable.

Early start. River steady at 0.8m with nice colour. No sign of trout or salmon showing all day. Had a firm take and run from a salmon on Upper Rock at 10.30 a.m.. Probably came off as it ran towards me. Not a great advert for the crushed down barbs on the Feeler Cascade double. A very early catch and release and third in a row this season! Still great to be out on this beautiful beat and nice to enjoy some action.
