Arrived at the river which seemed a nice height but was the colour of drinking chocolate! Washed off and will return another time.

Arrived at 7.00 a.m. River 0.9m on gauge carrying some colour but very fishable. Spectacular thunderstorm at 8.30am leaving river a chocolate mess and 5cm higher. Fished till lunchtime without a sign, then home for a drink in the sun and the footie.'till next time.

Salmon 15lbs landed, another lost in rock pool. Fish taken, water 1m, fc red/black.

Fishing this evening at the Rock Pool, 10lbs hen,13lbs cock [C and R] and 8-9lber lost at net all on single barbles spinner. All fish silver and fresh. More news may follow...

[n.b. Gary Evans was fishing on Wed. 13th not 14th] Arrived at the river at 8.15 full of optimism having heard of news of Gary's success yesterday evening. River 0.75m on the gauge carrying a little colour but unfortunately barometer dropping fast.I was treated to a pod of salmon passing through with approximately 7 head and whirry tail rises at the neck of rock pool in the space of 20 mins. A wonderful sight. Unfortunately they were clearly unimpressed by my efforts with fly and spinner and their intransigence lasted until I called it a day at 6.15. with river carrying more colour and starting to rise again. Another cracking day. I remain totally hooked on this salmon fishing lark. Amazing creatures. If I ever catch one I will be a basket case!

Water .96m and reasonable clear. Fished for salmon with black and gold FC from top of beat through to below the Chine. Some trout rising to sedge/mayfly but no salmon seen or landed. Landed 2 trout to 1.5lb on no12 white wulff dry, and also a large 20" brown at the Chine on 26gm fc.
Constant light rain became heavy at 5.30 so packed up at that time. Will fish well rest of week.

J 9 trout, best 2lb. G 1 trout 12ozs.

Ken had a shad 3lb & chub 3lb. John landed 5 trout lost 4 and Garry nil.

4 Trout caught on a variety of flies including Mayfly. Largest fish at just under a pound other three extremely small. Only area where fish were evident was from bridge to 50 metres maximum downstream. Other parts of river were unproductive.
