The conditions were good for barbel fishing as it was overcast with showers and also the river was up and had colour. We mainly fished with the feeder with luncheon meat and pellets as hookbait although we also tried rolling meat. Even though we tried different swims and fished until sunset we weren't fortunate enough to catch any barbel but had some nice chub (the largest was 4.5 lbs) and two eels.

A rising river but the first flush through so loads of silk weed made fishing really hard. Found a sunken tree and fished behind that with reduced weed issues I managed 4 barbel with 2 over 8Ib and 2 at just over 5Ib. Great stretch as always. Love the Wye

Back in the same swim. Lost a barbel early doors then had a frustrating morning and early afternoon trying to get the fish to bite properly, then had a mad 20 minutes where I caught 2 barbel and a chub before it went dead again. 9.30 and a chub then lowered the bait in and it was off again before I even had the chance to put the rod back in the rest. Feeder and pellets used but I did watch another angler trotting a float down and catch a number of barbel so will bear that in mind for the future.

Lovely stretch of water, will be coming back for another go here. Fished the faster water and managed to catch some barbel just like it was a couple of years ago. Showers made the banks rather slippery which is why I slipped and fell in, still caught the barbel though!
Feeder and pellets were the successful tactics.

A record day on 2 fronts, the most barbel in a day, and the least chub in a day!
Barbel between 3 and 10lbs average 6.5lbs.
One angler on opposite bank, who set up 30 meters below us, not a problem thank you.
Thank you to the estate for the maintenance.

Only fished from 6pm until curfew, first time on the Wye that I have blanked seemed to be a lot of silkweed which made presentation awkward, tried the usual baits but to no avail. River seemed very low gravel beach at lower end of beat into mid river.

All caught in the faster water on feeder tactics. Had some issues with fishermen on the other side but phoned Wye and Usk straight away, the farmer came down and moved them on, apparently they have paid £800 to fish their beat and for what it’s worth their half is shallow this time of year. Very hot today and water levels low.
