River was rising slowly so felt confident. No weed or debris issue however the fishing was hard. Managed 3 chub from 9 different swims. Lovely stretch as always and well trimmed banks makes access easy.
Fished swims that have produced barbel in the past but they were not feeding. Lovely day all the same though.

Great to be back on the River Wye again, arrived very early with high expectations, the river was coloured and rising slightly, tried meat and boilie through fishmeal & pellet ground bait feeder or a straight lead, however the fishing proved very hard on a very shallow beat and a real struggle to get a bite, however despite moving @ six times perseverance shined and finally hooked into a nice chub of @ 4.5lb … anything was better than a blank, unfortunately the Barbel had other idea's!
Bankside access was good with grass cut recently, care was needed in places as the ground was soft under foot and treacherous in places from the previous two days rain showers.
Canoe traffic was non-existent but the few that did pass were very courteous.
Thanks WUF and the land owner for great access to a beautiful river with all the nature that comes with it.
Called it a day at mid-day and sped home to spend father’s day with the family.

What a difference a day makes !!!
The river had dropped overnight and the chocolate brown colour had gone to be replaced by a pleasing greyish green and the air temperature was up several degrees. We felt confident and doubled up in one swim.
A lovely 8lbs barbel first cast and the bites continued at regular intervals. 8 barbel in total - five over 8 lbs with the best 8.12 lbs plus three over 6lbs. Also one chub of 4lbs. A great day on our favourite W&U stretch!

River was a chocolate brown colour but at a decent level. We fished several swims and used a variety of baits. Only one bite between us all day, one barbel about 6lbs on a Vortex baits pellet. A tough day but at least it stayed dry.

Fished slack at bottom of stretch and had a couple of bites but no fish.....then despite my best attempts at avoiding it, the 3rd loss of gear to the "snag" I decided to move up to the middle of the beat.
All caught on spam....some straight lead, some feeder. Getting regular bites on hair pellet but no fish....assume chub. A change of tactic would have caught the chub, but stuck it out for Barbel. All in all a pleasant last day for me. Roll on next season.
