Fished sunrise to sunset for three fish, river on its bones. Cormorants were on the river so maybe that's where the fish have gone.

A blank, on one of my favourite beats, even into the evening. Saw a very few rises; but it has been such a strange summer it's perhaps not surprising if the fish behave differently.

All fish caught on nymphs
Not many fish rising.
Very good grayling water, most fish took on the drift in the upper part of the stretch on the ends faster waters.
Trout came to life in the last hour.

Some great fishing to be had on this small stretch of the wye. Had consistent bites from the chub through the morning , afternoon and into the evening. 11 chub for myself ranging from 2lb to over 4lb and a good sized Barbel at last light. My friend had 6 chub to over 4lb. Swims are steep not sure it’s suitable for people who aren’t as physically able but that didn’t bother us. Beautiful spot on a very peaceful stretch of the river. No noise from the outside world and some fantastic fishing to be had given you spend the time working out where to fish and are prepared to move about.

Weather conditions were less than ideal for an August Saturday. Fortunately we were staying at Dulyn bothy at the bottom of the hill, so we retreated there during the early afternoon and returned for an hour in the late afternoon. We caught a 12 inch brown trout on a brown nymph, which we cooked as an appetiser.
