This was my first day on this beat so I was investigating its potential. I was surprised to find that the fishing positions were severely limited to those in the meadow below the water works only. Additionally, I found that there were nasty snags in all the positions I tried making it frustrating. Car access to the meadow positions was OK. I had three funny bites on my pike gear which came to nothing so think these must have been Jacks. Very few bites on Barbel gear.

Chub more obliging as river levels better. Bread and maggots on the hook with the same through the feeder was the successful method.

River still quite high making access to swims difficult but not impossible with care . Had a lot of tentative bites on feeder tactics all day but failed to connect. Halibut and crushed hemp groundbait. Halibut pellets and luncheon meat baits . Disappointed not too catch but that's fishing

Missed as many bites as I managed to connect with. Cheese paste the most effective bait, fished close in, in the slacker water, sadly no barbel despite mild weather and good river colour/fliw.
Met the lovely and enthusiastic owners who have plans to further improve bankside access for next season.
