River high and fast and over the croys but several swims fishable. Weather perfect , sunny with no wind and very Spring like. However in spite of trying 4 different swims could not raise any interest. A biteless day (where do all the chub go in winter?), but in spite of this nice to be back on the Wye.

My angling partner and I dead bait fished around 8 swims each on beats 1, 2 and 5 and only managed one run between us for the day, the river was running off and slightly coloured perfect conditions for a days pike fishing that said there was very little fish movement throughout the day we only noticed 6 fish break surface two of which being salmon/sea trout. The pike we caught was very thin for this time of year but with the river being in flood so much this season it was expected.

Fishing for Barbel, we had one bite all day (between us). The river was very high and very fast.

Water high and pushing through all the debris from yesterday’s storm. Virtually impossible fishing conditions, all manner of trees branches logs etc coming down river dragging the line, huge numbers of leaves. So despite me walking my gear downstream as far as i could to get out of the worst flow I abandon fishing after 2 hrs. Usually i say a bad days fishing is better than a good day in the office but today challenged that statement.

river was up several feet from yesterday, so abandoned the prospect of fishing, licking our wounds, drove home after a
fruitless couple of days..

another one down to experience, had quite a few of those unfortunately on the wye, going to ask for a wash off for the second day, see how we get on..
