Very pleasant short session (3pm until dusk) on a lightly fished beat. The upstream end is really not worth bothering with as there are no fishable swims. But there are 3 or 4 reasonable but challenging swims in the bottom field. Tried two of them and the very bottom one produced a barbel of about 7 lb. I suspect this is a beat that fishes better in higher water conditions.

Bright sunny day but had 2 good Barbel from the deeper water, and then an otter dancing through the swim that killed the action

Always a pleasure to arrive on this beat....the type of setting you could roll out a rug and enjoy a traditional English picnic.
For the roving angler it is always pleasing to note the resident livestock are sheep who politely keep their distance and add to the tranquil scene. A sluggish day but we were entertained with aerial displays by Birds of Prey and songbirds who seem to reside here in abundance. For the record we caught some good fish crowned by an immaculate very healthy looking Barbel of 11lb 2oz. On leaving the beat we were joined by a sprinting hare to top off another great day here.

Only fished from 07:00 - 09:00 due to personal commitments. Had 2 chub around 3lb. Lost a bigger one. The river was looking good. I was fishing in the woods. Watch out getting down there - don't take too much tackle as it is a steep slope and you need a hand to hold on :)
