Gorgeous beat, so much life there. My daughter inbetween fishing was catching minnows, stone loaches and bullheads in the shallows . Saw a massive shoal of around 500 mini barbel swim past us both and I've never seen that before and is a good indication for the future. Both barbel caught rolling meat and the eel of around 1.5lb also took the meat. Wildlife was phenomenal, my thanks to the owner for a super little beat.

Sugwas very different to when I first visited probably 15 years ago. Then access to the river was quite easy , now it’s very poor. ‘Others’ were dace. Unfortunately not a place that I will return to.

A short mid morning session which was ruined by a seemingly endless train of canoeists intent on beaching on any gravel area and making as much noise as possible, these particular people had zero respect for the river, it's wildlife and anglers.
Having pointed out on 2 separate occasions that they were in fact trespassing and that the wye Valley is not a public toilet I was met with the usual verbal abuse.!
A poignant reminder why I tend to avoid fishing the wye in the summer months.
