Fished from 11.30am to 6.15pm. Water temp 5.5c, air temp 15c, bright sunny day, wind SW, just a tinge of colour in the water. All fish taken on a hair-rig bunch of red maggots with halibut feeder from The Barr & Froth Hole.
Only got to fish the field adjacent to the playing field. Will have to explore the field beyond the woods next time. What a start to the weekend, onto Sugwas Court tomorrow.

Not our usual success apparently the river had some snow melt.... 1 barbel only. The salmon anglers had a 15 pound sea liced salmon opposite very friendly bunch! We enjoyed our day thanks...

Extremely slow fishing. One rod maggots, two chub, one rod pellet, one chub. Lost a barbel late on. River was in fine trim but a little concerned there were no small dace?
Fished Kerne Bridge next day was even slower. So all told disappointing two days fishing.

Fished the bottom end of the beat from 8am-6pm. Overnight temp of -2 wasn't great and the river was pushing through (1.1m) and running clear, the water felt very cold! We fished the float during the morning but bites where few and far between with only one trout around 1.5lb. We them moved over to the feeder in the afternoon (pellet & maggots) and only had the two bites, a barbel around 6.5lb and a chub of 2.5lb. All in all a tough day. On reflection fishing the slower deeper water further up on the beat might have been more productive.

A frost during the night I suspect knocked back any real chance of getting a late season barbel or two. The chub also seemed to be somewhat elusive although we managed to get a small 2 pounder on the bank. Fished feeder and pellet which, on reflection, was probably the wrong approach in the conditions. River had a decent flow but fairly clear. This stretch is not prolific, but in the right conditions will probably provide some good sport. Will try again next season.

Managed a start at first light despite driving through sleet and heavy winds! However, the day turned out to be bright and breezy. River still pushing through and with quite a bit of colour. Fished a swim by the "inspection drain" near to ST pump station. Used a sliding 2oz feeder with a 3ft lead core lead and 2ft hook length to a size 6 knotless hair hook. Hook bait was mixed meat chunks marinated in halibut oil and loose feed was hemp with 4and 6 mm pellet.
First cast produced a 5lb chub then quiet for an hour before 2 barbel each around 7lb. 3 remaining chub (3-5lb then spread during the day) before heading back to Surrey at around 5pm.
A great day's fishing in a wonderful spot!

Nice bit of river with great views. Access a bit tricky due to the beat being split into two sections separated by a road, although parking is good thanks to the public car park at the downstream end. Tried lots of swims along the whole length, working my way upstream and switching between Pike and Barbel gear depending on the swim. This resulted in a very nicely marked small Pike on float-fished Mackerel and a brief Otter sighting but not a twitch on the Barbel rod. Would like to fish here again in the summer.
Unfortunately someone appears to have fly-tipped several large fertilizer type bags filled with what appeared to be garden waste at one of the access points to the top section (by the small lay-by and public footpath), can provide a picture if necessary.
