Arrived at 2pm and walked the length of the beat and spun the margins for Pike without any success. Finally settled in to a deeper stretch above the top island without a single touch, river being low and clear .
Moved to lower pegs, baited and waited, lots of Chub type bites and only one landed to 5 lb, then a Barbel to 8lbs 11oz. Sadly bites died as the wind started to blow and we left at 9.30pm for the pub!
Guys fishing in the private stretches below us struggled too so we weren't doing anything wrong I dont think.

Day started well with a chub taking the bait on the drop on my first cast of the morning. Caught steadily during the early morning with 2 barbel and 3 chub in the bag by the time I went to Lucksall for breakfast. The rain in the afternoon seemed to put a virtual stop to any feeding with only one barbel between lunchtime and about 7pm. Once the rain stopped the bites started and had 3 more barbel and another chub between 7.15pm and 9pm.
Lots of swims available throughout the section although many involve a bit of a scramble, especially tricky after the rain. I can imagine if the level was up a couple of feet it would be a little harder to fish.

Last session on the Wye before we headed for two days on the Teme.
Weather bright and sunny and pretty hot. Tried all the usual baits, pellets, meat, bread and cheese paste no Fish or bites. Turned into torrential rain later in the afternoon, packed up early. Pint at our next stop, The Talbot at Knighton. Fantastic hotel/Pub.
Great home cooked/home grown food, great beer, very friendly staff and locals. Worth the stay for the superb breakfast alone. Will definitely be back, to explore more of the Wye.

The day started bright and sunny but degenerated as grey skies and constant rain set in from midday. The river was low, as expected so we concentrated on the woods section where there seemed to be more flow with sufficient depth. Bites were hard to come by in the sunshine but, as the cloud cover built up, the action started and we finished with 2 barbel (largest 9lbs 6oz - my PB) and 7 chub (largest 6lbs 2oz - my mates PB). 3 other barbel were lost in the fight. All fish taken on pellets despite trying other options. Brilliant fishing and a testament to sticking it out when conditions aren't ideal.

Had the stretch to myself for the whole day. Arrived first thing, as staying locally, intending to fish the usual pellet tactics for the barbel. Ended up splitting day in two.
Morning session no results on pellet so switched to feeder. 6 barbel to 10lbs and 6 chub to 5lb in various swims.
River went dead at about 10:30am stayed until 12 then went back to caravan for some grub.
Went back to the river at 5pm
Tried pellet again, this time success, left at 9:30
12 barbel to 11lbs and another 6 chub to 6lbs.
Lost approx 6 other fish in snags, of which there are a few.
Fantastic bit of river, albeit with a limited number of swims. Saw a number of salmon through the evening session, as well as signs of otters.
