First trip to the Wye and what a great experience. We all caught Barbel in what were perfect conditions - overcast and a bit of colour in the water.
Fished above the woods in the morning with only one Barbel being caught so tough going with the rocky bottom being a bit of a tackle graveyard!
We all braved the hill late morning and were rewarded with much better fishing below the woods. Limited swims but all 3 swims fished produced on the feeder & float. Barbel up to 9lb and Chub to 3.5 lb throughout the afternoon. Baits used were meat & various boilies. Both caught equally well. A great days fishing on a beautiful stretch.

Caradoc is such a wonderful beat without the crowds and catching the river in good nick coupled with a lovely Autumn day made a super days fishing regardless of capture.....2 rods fished and we managed to bag a few good Chub a couple of Barbel and a handful of smaller Chub too.....Both float and feeder method worked with the fish coming consistently through the day....Thank you to the WUF and owners for continuing to make this beat available....

Disappointed land owner was cutting overhanging tree's on the river bank and letting all the debris drift by for most of the day. Made the top half of the fishery un-fishable most of the day!
The only water we could fish was the upper reaches which were more Chub water. Not a great day.

We decided to float fish until about 4pm, and this was the method that produced most of the fish, mostly chub and dace with the chub going to just under 6lb, lost count of the fish!! Then after 4 we got the feeder rods out and had a nice run of barbel and chub, with the biggest barbel being just over 9lb, a fantastic days fishing!

3rd time lucky on this most serene of beats. It’s nice to fish in silence without the hum of traffic and the usual motorbike racetrack as a back ground. Just the occasional clatter of a train and an artillery explosion in the distance.

Several rises in different parts of the beat and switching from a klinkhammer to a dry produced the result. 7 hours of absorbing fishing on a beautiful isolated beat.

A total blank. Fished a prime swim at lower end of the beat until 2:00 pm then moved to fish the croys at the top end......not even a bite all day.....!!!! The river looked to be in a good state with a touch of colour.....it just seemed that the barbel werent there.....location, location...
