Hot windy day. 2 chub caught, one at 3lb and one at 3 1/2lb. Both taken on luncheon meat. I used two swims in the wooded area which was well worth the effort of tramping through the nettles.

Slow start apart from nice 5lb 6oz chub mid afternoon but at 5pm barbel came on the feed to pellet. 10 barbel between 5lbs and 7lbs 12oz made the afternoon a very enjoyable session. Well worth the visit despite only a few swims being accessible.

With the river at only .67m at Ross, the Barbel were going to be hard to find. The water was low and clear. Had to wait 3hrs for first Chub on the feeder. Moved slightly further down the L/H bank and fished the creases between the rapids. Bagged another 4 Chub, the best being about 5lbs. Returned to my 'dead' peg, trotted maggot and landed several Dace and Chublets with another 2 bonus 4-5lb Chub late in the day. Lovely place, good access but too shallow for Barbel when river is low. Canoeists were abundant but considerate.

Although told to expect other anglers it was disappointing to find 3 other anglers on our booked beat, they were also pretty upset to see us thinking they had booked the beat exclusively through the farmer. Another disapponiting day with only 1 good chubb caught.

Fished the croys at the top end of the beat, fished all day without a bite between us. Another angler fishing also failed to catch and left early. River was at a reasonable level though very clear which did not help, perhaps we should have moved about to see if we could locate them. Stayed until dusk very dissapointing but a loveley place. Decided to fish somewere else the following day instead.

A generally slow day with the river low and relativley clear. A slow stream of fish coming to halibut pellet, throughout the day a total of 9 Barbel taken between 2 rods.
All in all a great day out, thank you.

River low & clear so decided to floatfish for the early part of the day. Both rods caught loads of dace plus the odd chub to 4lb. Tried the pellet feeder towards evening with no success. Lovely stretch and would return for the dace fishing alone.

Fished the peg almost opposite the fishermans hut on the crib. It looked fantastic but was very clear and the level appeared to be below normal as the bay on the opposite bank (point of the small island) was only a few inches deep. Sat for probably 4 hours without a bite using every method and bait I had with me including halibut, elips pellets, boilies, luncheon meat in all sizes. Feeding hemp and barbel bomb (hinders) through a feeder. Was really disappointed so decided to move downstream to a peg on a concrete and stone ledge under a big tree. Having sat there for another 2hrs I eventually had 2 barbel about 5lb on 8mm pellets. All in all a disappointing days fishing but loved the location and views. My two mates managed to catch 4 chub and 2 barbel between them. One of the barbel was over 8lb but again not a very impressive day considering all 3 of us are experienced Barbel anglers. We put it down to the condition of the river level. But will be back to give it another go.

A good days fishing was eventually had by all 4 rods. Had to move around the stretch a bit to find the barbel & chubb. Not a prolific haul of fish but an enjoyable day none the less. Variety of baits used but pellet seemed to produce the fish.
