Again the river was very high and really pushing through, very few swims were fishable. Managed a few chub and a couple of barbel in about 5 hours fishing, one was a cracker of a fish just over 9lb all on pellet feeder.Would like to try this again on the float as i think it would fish best that way, obviously when levels return to normal!!

18th June, the river was up but dropping & still reddish in colour. We started the day at the top of the fishery, heavily pre baiting 4 likely looking swims, hemp, pellet, corn and ground bait packed into 5oz feeders to hold bottom. The fishing was slow with one fish to myself, a PB barbel of 8-14oz to corn hook bait. We moved down to the bottom section of the beat in the afternoon, a move which provided a 6lb barbel & 3 chub to 2lb to Tim.
An interesting stretch which I would like to return to when the conditions are better. Thanks to all at Wye & Usk.

River very high still but fishable. 3 barbel caught, 2 double figures, 1 eight pound. 4 Chub, 1 over 4lb 1 at 4lb, 2 at 3lbs plus. Bailiff met on site and saw photographs of first barbel & chub.
Method: 1st two fish taken on legered heavy swim feeder with 2mm pellets halibut pellet with paste wrap hook bait.
Other fish taken with similar method using PVA Mesh filled with 8mm pellets and pellet hook bait with Salmon oil or Halibut oil dip and paste wrap.
All fish returned alive and swam off full of life. All Barbel and Chub rested before release.

Never fished this length before and wouldn't do so again under high water conditions. A combination of several feet of flood water and high overgrown banks meant there were very few fishable swims. One rod took 9 barbel from the best of the fishable spots the rest of us had to scratch about in a couple of unappealing swims for 3 barbel between us.
By far the most disappointing wuf length I have fished to date. Non of the barbel caught were over 7lb.

Another glorious sunny day unfortunately I had to fish the same swim as yesterday due to the hight of the water. The fish were a bit more cautions today and i ended up with 6 barbel and 1 big dace all on pellets.
All in all a great couple of days and a big thank you to everyone at WUF.

River was up, probably 5ft, found it hard fishing on right bank early on, moved across the bridge and fished under (almost) the big tree by the bridge. Long stretch of slack water next to main drag. 5 Chub 2.5 lbs to 4 lbs two barbel 4lbs and 5lbs many bites missed. Meat and sweetcorn. Lovely weather and a short but beautifull stretch to visit. I forgot to mention the eel. Thank you Charles and the Foundation!

Started on bottom pond. Nothing but small raoch and rudd. Tried sweetcorn maggots and bread. No sign of these elusive tench. Moved to top pond in afternoon. DO NOT FISH THIS POND WITHOUT A WEED RAKE. Spent hour clearing couple of swims out. Caught about a dozen carp between us upto couple of pounds in weight. Good looking fish golden bronze and fin perfect. Loads of rudd largest just over half a pound including some golden ones. Again perfect condition. Lovely place to fish very quiet but needs some clearence work. Not sure if its worth £20 a pop. £15 would be better.
