Barbel to meat and pellet as were chub. Sporadic throughout the day from top end. Good number of accessible swims and beautiful venue with lots of pheasants making the flight across the river! Conditions good with temperature around 16, air still. River slightly coloured with 4-5 foot in the flow. Could hold bottom with ounce lead/feeder. We will be back!

Our first time to this beat.
We had read several previous reports about the walk up and down heart attack hill to avoid the land slide in the wood. This is no exaggeration, if you aren't adventurous and reasonably fit I would stick to the top end of the beat which has several nice swims with normal Wye type access.
Over all a very nice beat
Thanks to the Wye and Usk for all the great work in providing us with such great sport and scenery.

Lovely day fishing but not easy. We found the lower section more productive in the afternoon but lost four between us and brought in three.

The river was back to low levels and a fair clarity. The water temperature was cold, around the 10oC although, 12 of the Chub were taken to trotting, all fish of a good size, during a rewarding mornings fishing. Although wading was required, proving to be challenging due to the cold water. Roving was required to secure the Barbel throughout the day.

River was very low, but had some nice barbel further down the stretch in the deeper water on a feeder. Nice stretch with some well maintained swims. Very snaggy bottom though!

Where have all the Barbel gone? A falling clear river didn't help!
