As it fished well yesterday two of us came back today. Same weather and river conditions. I managed to catch a 5.08 barbel today to go with 4 chub on meat or maggot. SM didn't catch his first fish till 1500 but added another 5 after that all on meat and all over 3lb. Again a lovely day.

Mild start to Feb with the river at 0.5m with a good flow and a hint of colour. Had 3 nice chub early but moved after a biteless hour and a half. Started catching again early afternoon and added another 6 chub with the biggest over 5lb and the rest all a good stamp. Caught on maggot, meat and cheesy garlic dumbells. A lovely winter days fishing.

The top end of this beat near the car parking area was largely unfishable with only a couple of pegs accessible, that said the lower stretch past the woods had plenty of fishable pegs, the weather was beautiful if not a little cold first thing!! 2 Barbel were caught so all in all a good day, would like to fish again in the future.

Fished upstream nymph. Nice conditions. Lost two grayling. None landed. I like the river and the Fishing Passport booking service so will choose another beat to fish shortly.

Had to remove heras fencing from the approach road to the fishery, 12 panels had blown onto the road...when I finally arrived to the river it was a good level and clarity was good, temps still low so decided deadbaits in deeper slow water would be the main approach for the day. Quite mild for January however the wind was horrible and squally.

Worked all of the downstream deeper areas with deadbaits but no interest, tried off the bottom and on it plus leaving for an hour. Also moving it everything few minutes but nothing could tempt a take. Tried lures in the deep areas but nothing doing.

Made my way back up to the Weir Garden area at 3pm then the wind decided to stop. Put the deadbait gear in the car and decided to try the fly. 3rd cast in the boat house swim and had this mint 14lber, saw her take the fly...brilliant!

Perhaps if I had fished the top area for longer I would of had more success as its alot more sheltered. Thankfully the fencing was still up when I made my way home.
