No fish seen rising, tried olive para and goldhead nymph with no success. It was quite a chilly spring day with a stiff cold breeze which was probably keeping the fish down, water had a slight tinge of colour to it. No fish caught.

Two trout seen in the deeper pools, none risen or caught. Decent hatch of March Browns about 2 o'clock and some Iron Blues but no fish seen rising to them. Pheasant tail nymph, and dry March Brown. Still quite a flow on, even though river level was low. Returned to the car park about 3.30pm and even though this was a pre-booked beat, found a passport holder was also fishing the same beat behind us. We were going to start again on some of the lower pools, but gave it a miss, as they were already fishing.
WUF note: If any angler who has pre-booked a beat encounters this, please log the car registration and ID Card number on the vehicle pass which should be displayed clearly on the dashboard enabling us to contact the offender and advise them of the rules.

1 Trout. We thought the recent rain might have woken the Wild Streams into action - but alas we were wrong!
The chosen beat - the Lower Henllan on the Honddu - was indeed very thin and only very few fish showing. At least the tree cover gave protection from the direct sun. A couple
of missed opportunities and one small WBT was our total bag!
For information it's worth noting that the upper fields of this beat are used as a campsite and you might, like us, find more than fish in the river!

River was low, a very hot and sunny day. Very few fish rising, was able to tempt 2 wbt on a cream CDC dun in size #14 (from different pools). Both fish around 6 - 8 inches. Spooked several very good sized fish (maybe 1.5lb'ers) on a deep channel glide - I'll be back before the season's out to try my luck again. A favorite spot that has given me blanks, but never failed to deliver on enjoyment of the surroundings and the challenge of fishing it.

First time fishing on this beautiful little river. Weather was wet and windy but you are protected from the wind by the tree cover. Saw a couple fish rising but other than that not much surface activity. Sadly did not manage to hook a fish today. Will certainly be back for another go next time I'm in the area.

Nice 12" Brownie. Had another smaller fish and managed to rise 4 more and lost another including my fly. The two fish caught fell to a March Brown and Blue Winged Olive fished Duo above a PTN. Felt I should have done better, but a lovely stream in a beautiful location made up for that. Top of beat didn't yield anything possibly due to the field adjoining being let out for camping.

Bright sun, upstream wind, Water level appears quite low.
Around 11am a small hatch of Olives, but no trout moving.
Fished a variety of dry patterns but nothing interested, not surprising as they would not move to the Olives !!
A lovely beat, once again I took a number of very nice photographs, but not of fish!

Beautiful afternoon on the Honddu. Sunny with very little wind. Air Temp 8C. Black Mountains snow capped. River in perfect condition, with a steady trickle of LDO's hatching all afternoon from around 1.30pm onwards. No fish rising for the naturals at all. No fish seen. Water extremely cold from the snow melt.
Tried dry imitations of LDO and also fished duo method in all the likely spots to no avail. Desperately in need of some warmer days.
