Steady hatch of various upwings during my time on the Clettwr. Levels slightly up but running clear. Trout began to show after midday, 9 fish between 4 and 9 inches.
Stunning scene with the blue bells out and the sunlight breaking through the trees.

Once again a superb beat, but as always one of the most challenging. 4 fish (all returned), the best at the top where the river levels off. All on an Adams. A few more came to the fly, but failed to contact.

Only fished for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Very cold and overcast. I've fished this beat a few times and it seems to get wilder each year. That could be me getting older, of course, but there were certainly more trees down than last year; one of them across what used to be just about the best pool on the beat. Good to be out there and actually relatively sheltered in the bottom of the gorge. But no sign of fish and nothing caught.

Very cold. Thought would have a look at this beat and a few nearby. In the gorge were four foot long icicles. Tenkara level line icing up every five minutes. Not a fish to be seen. Climbed back up the gorge, was 7 degrees and glorious sunshine. Is spring gonna arrive? Lets hope so!
