Decidedly tricky this afternoon , fished between three and quarter past six... did from the brook entrance in to Edw up to the Glanedw Farm ...
Lots of spent mayfly spinners about by five .... a warmer afternoon than yesterday ...but boy it was hard going above the bridge, foot depth of water in places and rising fish ,had a couple on and quickly off ... ... just one of those days to be honest ...
Four made it to the net , small feisty fish that were all risers, between six and eight inches in size ... hard earned with mega slow wading..... a grey Wulff did the business....... but the profile of the spent spinner has to be just right in the slower water to be taken ..... still a really fun session but boy has it grown a lot above the bridge .... wowser, really messy stuff and a lot of pools out of action cause of overhanging branches .... I have emailed WUF about the winter work parties again ... tidy up these wild streams..... lots are close to unfishable now .... escley, Monkland...Litton in places ....perhaps a permit holders forum maybe, find out who's free on a set date , bring lopers hand saws, secateurs and give these streams a dam good tidy up !!!! They deserve a bit of tlc .....
Packed up at quarter past six , still muggy but a really pleasant three hours .... seemed quiet downstream of the bridge, really odd, only picked uo the one fish there .... the pool heads were quite as a mouse ... even a small para Iron Blue didn't get a response on a lot of the pools..... almost seemed as though it may have had an angler through earlier possibly .. oh well , still good fun and managed a few... fun watching spent spinners come down a run and little trout reacting to them !!..... home time and a good water of the pots and tubs I think ...... May give the Elan Valley an early one tomorrow!!! Lifes good hey ........

Great little beat. Spent a couple of hours after work. Landed one WBT (about 5 inches) on a klinkhammer. Hooked into two more, one on the klinkhammer and the other on a PTN, but failed to get them to the net.

A day of mixed weather… started off overcast and chilly but very warm and bright in the afternoon once the sun came out … but cold again once the sun went off the water and the breeze returned to kill off any hope of an evening rise.

The river is low and needs rain. None in forecast though… There was a lot of fly life around when we arrived although not immediately apparent what it was… but the trout were very happy and were locked on, feeding voraciously on something at the surface … but we could not work out what! Although it never really felt like we cracked that puzzle 11 came to hand including 3 in the 18-20 inch bracket … stunning fish all to the usual size 14 grey parachute that can imitate most things. As many again were lost including another clonker. In the calmer water it really was sight fishing … the fish could be seen and their behaviour observed, which meant every refusal was revealed…. Fascinating!

A few grayling seen too … no doubt they will be joining the fun before too long. The day concluded with a nice chat with the couple staying in the railway wagon at the caravan park … fellow fisherfolk, left them with some encouraging words and a successful fly, hope they have a good time the next day.

Excellent day despite strong breeze making fly fishing tricky. 3 rainbows (plus one lost) all taken between 2 and 3pm on a damsel nymph. Good to see warden checking on permits.

Complete waste of time and money.
Not going to that reservoir again.
Only 2 fish in 9 outings.
That is a joke sorry.

Lovely couple of hours fishing, water quite low and very clear. Around 8pm the mayflies and spinners appeared in good numbers and the trout responded. Sadly I had to leave soon after 8 so missed it!
Will be back

Fish really started moving at around 7pm. Lots of activity in the larger pools below the bridge, but also the shallow runs.

Landed a 17-18 inch fish and had another snap me off. Jingler and emerger flies were all they were interested in.

Only managed to fish for about 10m as had a sick daughter in tow and had to abandon fishing.

However beat looking nice and could see some good-sized cruising trout from the vantage point of high banks further down the beat.
