3 fish to 13 inches, tungsten nymph. Lost a big one which went like a rocket in the heavy flow. NE wind, cool, no hatch today.

River clear and at a good height, but a stiff north easterly kept the temperatures down. No hatch for most of the day bar a five minute flurry of LDOs at about 1400. Both fish taken on weighted PTN variant.

Lovely day but not a bite and only 1 rise spotted. Water clear, leaders long, tried nymphs of different weights , spiders and emergers in the quieter spots. All to no avail . Stuck around the bottom half of the beat. Chicken and ham pie from butchers in Ledbury today.

Another very early start to fish whats left of the water that we’ve had up here but it’s dropping off quickly now.
A couple of trout shortly after first light in the bottom of the beat then went down The Orchard with nothing touched. Gromain rods were fishing the opposite bank so I went back down to the middle and lower catches.
Mid afternoon I had a delicate take in the Chapel compound gutter and after a brief tussle managed to coax the fish into some quieter water just downstream.
A fresh hen, which wasn’t netted and was quickly unhooked after I managed to get a photo. ( not for the first time , almost losing my phone in the process). She didn’t leave the water and went off like a rocket on release.
Caught on a size 8 Metallica fished on a long T11 tip.
No measurement taken but 13lb a fair guesstimate.
I fished almost until twilight so almost 12 hours fishing but worth it for another lovely Wye springer.

No joy, I’m afraid. The conditions seemed pretty but no hatch observed and didn’t see any fish rising. Not interested in a variety of nymphs.

Despite a significant Sedge hatch, we didn’t catch or see a single fish, not even a rise. River bed is covered in brown slime, with foam floating on the surface - we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
