Had some business to attend to in Hereford, so I thought on the way back to Rhayader I'd sqeeeeeeeeeeeze in a few hours on the lovely Arrow.....
Got there at half eleven , strewth it was warm ... tackled up the usual small streams outfit ...and a tiny Para Adams .... nothing doing in the faster water ... First two fish surprised me in the first long glide, tight into the side... two slow leisurely gulps of the fly.... lovely .... and gorgeous fish as always ...
Nothing big, and in fact pretty much all the same size in a tally of five ... one was perhaps five inches, the other four maybe eight..... where were the lumps ????? Ha ha its a great stretch for decent brownies here, looking at the returns .... pretty quite activity on the Arrow ..... odd ..!!Bit of sense of adventure is needed !!! Don't wait for a beat to be fished and a return entered , just get out there and give it a go.... wether it's the Cilieni , Senni, Lugg, just give it a go ....get out there !!! I do !!! Lol .....
Anyway a tricky, and to be honest , quiet couple of hours , only really did between the bridges and perhaps a tad more ...... plenty of bullheads under the stones, and two young crayfish seen too ....
Lots of himalayas Balsam.... an angler should do a display of pinks , white and creams at the Chelsea flower show...lol .... thick with it here, eight foot heigh jungle too ...aaarrggghhhh seeds popping everywhere !!!!!
Right ..... onwards to Rhayader, after another cold can of diet coke .... a pleasant wind down on an old favourite ..... Happy days .....

There was on water in this beat so it was unfishable. To be honest, the description on the Fishing Passport website makes it sound like it's a lot more than it is. It is tremendously overgrown all along the length of the beat - I did inspect it all despite the water level. I would not recommend anyone waste their time on this beat even with decent water. You would find a spot or two where you can throw a roll cast but otherwise it's all going to be bow and arrow.

Very warm, only occasional sunny spells. No sign of any trout, I fished 8am to 12. Occasional sedge flies on shore, but no response to dry sedge or pupa.

Canoes on the reservoir spoiled the fishing for everybody. Should not be allowed.

Very enjoyable days fishing. Some comments about track but had no issue with a 3.5 ton van. Fish caught on 12mm krill boilies in middle of beat. Others were 2 eels, 2lb and 4lb and one kayak.

Stunning water in quintessential farming country. Overcast for first time in some days which was a bonus. Didn't net any, but hooked three for varying lengths of time. One on dry fly and others on wet. All felt to be substantial fish. Next time!
