Well gave my all time favourite wild llyn another bash today..... lovely weather too when I parked up by the boathouse at seven this morning.... just perfect, overcast and a good westerly, reading 12 degrees in my truck, bit different from last year, but I'm not complaining, the last few days have been refreshing to say the least ..... spent yesterday up at the lovely Nant-y-Moch reservoir, had two dozen beauties there to the net, and three double hook ups!!!... fourteen quid all day there !!!! Catch and release too ..... I think that amount is just about right if I'm honest !!
Anyway the fishing at Bugeilyn...... sublime !! I fished two wets here, as I always do , three is just a faff about with the squally winds ..... two of my favourite Bugeilyn wets did the business......again !!! Although with the westerly it brings into play the Christmas tree bank..... only a few locations there fishsble as I mentioned last time, the brandy bottle yellow lillies are encroaching into the Lake big time .... Iooked at old photos and they weren't there four years ago !! Needs a boat and a sharp Long handled scyth ... to cut them them off deep down, before flowers seed and drop more to then grow out further !! Shame really as that bank was always really good ..... hey hoy ... where you can get a line out , there's a nice thirty yard section .... plenty of good fish today in a tally of 29 to the net, may have been a few more ... fish ranged from seven to thirteen inches .... eight really good fish early bells too ....and I had a double hook up here too, fantastic !!! the intermittent sun seemed to put them off the boil, then when the clouds created the cover , up they'd come again.... Savage hits to mainly mh point fly .... fished just sub surface eoth a hover polyleader, beds them in nicely ....
A lovely day .... wrapped things up at three had a late lunch, then a slow bimble back to The Ponderosa .....another lovely day at this hallowed location ..... must get on the Edw or Cammarch over the weekend, get my river legs back on form !!!! Haven't been on a wild stream for a couple of weeks !! So that's a must !! Out in the Elan Valley on the mountain bike tommorrow .... so Saturday hopefully on a wild stream ....... Time for a cold one at The Lamb and Flag in Rhayader I think...... Happy days.......

River was looking good at the start. Heavy rain at intervals made it a bit difficult in places. All fish caught with black gnat on 14 hook. 2 trout about 9" and one around 11". Grayling, 10"or so.

First time on this tiny beat and worried about the drive down which was no problem. Started off fishing for barbel - saw a couple on the near bank. No joy but chub on meat, Went on to waggler with hemp and corn for epic action from chub from 12oz to 3lb - so many lost count. Even more big dace - lovely to see them boiling on the surface. Virtually a fish a cast on the waggler. Met Gordon the owner - lovely chap who pointed out an interesting far bank rock ledge which holds barbel. Tried for them at the end of the session but just chub to meat and various sized pellets . Despite its size I was extremely impressed with this peaceful beat not far from Hereford with its sparrow hawk and buzzard action in the giant trees opposite.
I will certainly come back to try for the barbel on the waggler.
ps picnic benches make for a nice lunch break. pps bring a rope and dog spike if you are not nimble.

Er cymryd amser i grwydro yr holl ffordd o amgylch y llyn tro ‘ma, a thaflu llinell nawr ac yn man, gydag amryw o blu gwahanol doedd dim bachiad o gwbl.
Ond, toc wedi 9:30yh, tawelodd yr awel, daeth llonyddwch gwell i ddwr y llyn, a dechreuodd y brithyll godi.
Daeth un i’r rhwyd, ar batrwm cartref o hopper bibio, cyn ei ryddhau yn ddiogel. Min nos hyfryd arall yng nghesail y mynyddoedd.
———
Despite wandering the whole perimeter of the lake this time, and throwing a line in different areas, with a variety of flies, nothing seemed to be right.
However, just after 9:30pm, the breeze dropped, the lake stilled just enough, and the trout started rising.
One came to the net, on a homemade bibio hopper pattern, before being released safely. Another night of calm in the mountains.
