Water a bit too high and the current quite strong, so difficult to wade.

The morning spent nymphing in various spots with no joy. Warmed up at lunchtime and plenty of fly life but no rises.
Changed to a speculative dry and landed a gorgeous feisty 17” grayling. What a start to the season on the most serene and varied of beats.

Two nice newly stocked rainbow trout around a lb each. Caught on east bank using float with lob worm. 6 year old sons first trout. Think he’s hooked. Great day.

River still pushing a little. Despite a few March Browns and LDOs, and even a few caddis on the wing, the Honddu is yet to wake up. A tough day, with only a single fish to a dry which was untargeted and only rose while prospecting a pool. River is looking very healthy though, and with another few weeks, should have warmed up nicely.
