Tough day with river very high and lots of debris but managed two nice barbel and a chub between us.

No fish caught, river was in spate conditions.

Riover had risen 1.1m overnight, so we arrived to a whirlpool of muddy water. By mid afternoon the river had fallen 60cm and we managed to pull 4 chub out from beat 2.

Got there to find the river up and access not possible to any section bar the steps at the top which I am not sure are part of the beat anyway. A fallen tree is still blocking the main path and the rest is very overgrown and difficult to get through, even without carrying fishing gear. Tried to run a float down from the steps but all the time thinking that is was a completed waste of time and effort and gave up. I spent the rest of the day visiting a number of other beats upstream where people were fishing into the margins and catching despite the rise in water. Very disappointing that Wyebank is in such a state.

The River was dark following the rain. It was high, so much so that wading was deep, challenging and close to the bank.

I caught two trout and a grayling (all quickly returned) who rather surprisingly liked a Willie Gunn. The salmon (if there were any, or could see) didn't.

I fished from Rock Pool to New Catch.

River up and conditions looked good, lots of debris coming down unsurprisingly which hampered things but kept mobile and found a few fish
