Loads of bites but no catch, conditions were dry, sunny and warm

River low and clear (need some rain) chub throughout the day and the 3 barbel caught within the last hour.

Excellent mornings fishing with the biggest grayling bang on 2lb. Grayling we’re definitely in feeding mood and lost count after the second pool ! 20 is a very conservative estimate. Just a couple of trout with all fish coming to nymphs fished Euro style.

5 nice grayling of 11-13 inches, on duo. Little rise or hatch. Saw one big sea trout(?) of c. 4lbs.

Obvious to say but the river was low and very clear. Really good to see the ranunculus growing in numerous spots which I haven't seen before. Fished the top end of the beat as had some flow. Used feeder tactics and most fish came between 6am and 11am. They seemed to switch on to luncheon meat and not pellets. All fish were in great condition but having caught a few barbel previously I noticed that they didn't give the same 'fight'. I am guessing that this is all down to the low oxygenated water! All fish were rested for a lengthy period of time.
A really lovely stretch of water and I'll be back again for sure.
