Did not fish.
We took a look at the whole fishery, and had a chat with the two others on the fishery. We thought that the limited number of swims gave little to choose from, particularly with anglers on the opposite bank. It may be that wye and usk could consider restricting the rods allowed on the beat to just a couple.
However within the hour the river had risen about six inches with so much stuff pushing through you couldn't keep a line in the water. this ranged from clumps of weed to whole trees!

We opted to park in the top/up stream car park which is a nice facility and close to the river.
River low and the sun was out in the morning and bites were hard to come by. After lunch the river level started to rise/colour after the up stream rain a few days earlier. This brought the fish on the feed, along with all the general bank side debris you would expect after such a long period without serious rainfall. All good fun

Difficult to access a good swim here, there could be some nice spots but the best places to fish right now are all cattle drinks(!)
Weather turned for the worse and so left early, 1 knock in the morning.

Fished one of the weir pool swims. Started on the float with meat and had 4 chub to 3lb. Changed to feeder in the afternoon with pellets and had a slightly bigger chub at dusk. The river was visibly rising by late afternoon but was still very clear.
All in all a slow and difficult day and very wet and windy.

Fishing:Winter Grayling

2 anglers caught and returned 40 odd grayling, 1 oos wbt and 1 salmon parr. Variety of nymphs and emergers used with fish taking freely on the surface even though little seemed to be hatching. Spotted 3 kingfishers but not before they spotted me and flew off down the river!
