Weather conditions and low clear water in sunny conditions made fishing difficult. Like many of the Wye and Usk stretches there are not many places to get in.

First time on this beat, absolutely beautiful spot but river very low, which is just nature's fault.
Somewhat surprised at the 4 picnic tables, would not be very happy if these tables were to be used by families as suggested in another post, especially should they have dogs and children throwing sticks/balls in the water for the dog to fetch.
Another serious problem in my view is the access due to a metal grate set in concrete, which has caused some considerable damage to my alloy wheels. Once again the problem could be easily solved by simply trimming the corner off the concrete base. Once again the landowners responsibility in my view, it would appear that they just take the money and couldn't care less.

River still low, and we fished the wooded area up to 4pm, where the hoped for barbel did not show. Fished the last swim by the gate to dusk and were rewarded by more chub and a solitary but welcome barbel of 7lb 6oz. All fish taken on luncheon meat. Not quite sure why we are missing the barbel. Tried the usual adjustment of hook link lengths and baits, and introduction of feed…..

First time on this beat. Total of 4 anglers spilt above and below the orchard. Low water so expectations not high but pleasantly surprised to catch fairly consistently from about 15:00 onwards. Biggest Barbel 8lb 13oz and Chub to just over 4lb.
Tricky beat to negotiate but rewards are there to be had.
