River low, temperature lower than would be expected for mid June, and a cool breeze. Fished the upper part of the beat and brought a couple of small brownies to hand, both on small dries. Also rose a few others including one hooked but "distance released". Was nice to see a kingfisher that flew just past me

2 Out of season Grayling returned- one about 12" and one about 8". Both in the faster water up from the recording studio. Saw 2 trout rising under trees (caterpillars ?) but otherwise nothing. Maybe the stormy weather in the previous 2 days or maybe me stamping about in the river.
Easy to find and to park (there is even a sign!) . What rods need to know is that you have to access some of the water through the studio's garden and that access points are marked by yellow posts. Make sure you have plenty of tippet handy for replacements as these trees are angry! To be fair, willow is quite forgiving when it comes to recovering your hairy projectiles.
I didn't see ladders or hand rails as mentioned in the notes, however, I didn't cover the whole beat. NB if volunteers are needed to clear some of the entry/exit points I can rouse a couple of willing folk. Fun day on the river!

Bit of a change for me ... smashed the front lawns at one , packed the mower away then bimbled off to the Hundred House beat of the Edw .... got there at just before two .... Reading 18 degrees in my truck river not tooooooooo low ... tackled up my old faithful six for two weight ... she's perfect for dries when this beat becomes like a jungle ; as it was this afternoon !!

Boy were the trout Savage this afternoon ... fished between two and six ... only perhaps did a third of the beat ... slow and stealthy are key here !!! Fished a Parachute Iron Blue the whole session .... and didn't loose it either !!! I must spend to much time on these wild streams !!!!!Anyway from three ish plenty of sedge activity and also the mayfly and olives .... so a real platter for the Edw residents!!! Starter main and pud all at once !!!!!

Fishing was superb... Great Savage takes, a few fluffed strikes this afternoon but managed to bring to the net fourteen beauties .... ranging in sizes from six inches right uo to twelve .... one cracker slipped off just before the net .... always the way hey !!!

River is low but still reasonably cold ... stacks of little hungry feisty brownies here with the usual odd surprise !!! Great fun on light tackle ... Tenkara would also be fun here at the mo ! I'm sure it would be effective with little dries ... .....

Kingfisher up and down several times ... the ambience here is just sublime ... love it ... a super few hours on one of my favourite beats ; spot on !!

The river was very low (0.61) on the Erwood gauge so I left my salmon tackle at home and fished for trout instead. Surprisingly there were very few flies coming off so rises were few and far between, and I suspect they were actually grayling judging. I only fished a couple of hours but had two out-of-season grayling, both around 3/4lb-1lb and a small brownie. No salmon seen.

This is a stunning stretch of the Upper Wye. Parking (once found - instructions are clear but the navigator's ability to read them not so much) is a well located. Walk down to the gate (there is a hut there but that's not the river hut marked on the map). Very good conditions apart from a gusty wind. The Grayling Whisperer had a successful day using nymphs in the outflow around Ciliau Falls & Rocks and Ciliau Run. Wading a little tricky in places. Good stretch of water that kept us interested all day.

We stayed at The Griffin Pub in Llyswen which we would recommend.

Such a lovely spot - red kite, oyster catcher, plovers, egrets, millions of sand martins.
Absolutely no action to Klink&Dink-style during the daytime & was difficult with gusty wind still, but from 8.30 it all came alive as expected & it was super fun - could have stayed later if I'd not got a fair drive back because they were still rising merrily at 10.15 under a gorgeous dusk.
The fish came to deershuckers from Barbless Flies - lost a couple more too - lovely, healthy, powerful fish.
A total tonic ;)
