Had to work hard for my fish, on a bright day on a low and clear river. A chilly downstream breeze, that had me regretting taking off my fleece at lunchtime, compounding matters. While the low level brought water that, for a lily-livered wader like me would otherwise be inaccessible, jeez, the bottom was slippery today; so much so that, even with studded soles, on a couple of occasions, I came very close to meeting the fish on their own terms
Two good Grayling from the last (or should that be "first"?) run downstream in the first half hour. I picked up these fish by wading out a further 5 yards than I would normally dare to venture; putting the nymph right under the far bank tree line. Nothing in the gutter, but another half dozen Grayling, mostly on a dry, from the upstream section after lunch. Quality over quantity today; my first two Grayling must have gone close to 2lbs a piece, with most of the others, as my old mate Tom Dixon would put it, going "about a pound"
Wednesday's Lyepole apples went into an apple pie which, even if I say it myself, was absolutely delicious (which was a good thing, as it was big enough to feed a small army)

Same old whinge, bankside dangerous and virtually inaccessible. Tried to find the orchard swim, seems its lost forever somewhere in the undergrowth!!
Don't believe it's the passports responsibility but that of the landowners. Each and every beat I visited, I had to spend at least an hour cutting back long overgrown vegetation before being able to commence fishing but on a more positive note, fishing great as usual.

Tough day, can't even blame an excess of canoes, to be fair. Not a flicker on the lead and pellets in the morning - on both the lower and upper sections of the fishery. A few small chub on trotted luncheon meat on the bottom stretch in the afternoon.
I had the whole fishery to myself and did note a distinct lack of bookings for this fishery at the moment on the passport website. I can't help feeling that perhaps others know something I don't!

Wonderful stretch. Clearly very low but still fished quite well. Fished upstream section on Klink and dink, with most fish falling to pink tag nymph, a couple taking the klinkhammer.
Tried the DS section, walking all the way back up and switched to the dry fly for afternoon session, harder going but managed 5 grayling all on the olive dun.
Fantastic day in the most beautiful setting. Will definitely be back.

River very low but a good flow through sections. Bright sun and clear water didn’t help. I was joined by a pair of otters for the duration of my stay but I did manage to land two large brown trout.

All fish returned in professional manner. Method used was open sliding cage feeder and long hook link. River condition was at a low level but good flow through the centre.
