Much harder day today. Quite cold last night. Fished for a few hours today.

There were sparse hatches of small olives, a few sedges and a single mayfly, but no fish showing on the surface. I tries a few dries with no response, once again fish took ptn / hare's ear nymphs.

2 Trout, 1 Grayling

Cold eastern wind all day. No fish rising. Nothing on spinner. A few small perch and brown trout up to about a pound on fly ( returned) . No rainbows.

Water very low. One possible sighting of a Salmon on beat 4 as I walked back to the car but none in the net

3 Grayling

Fairly ropey beat for trout anglers. When low especially. Access is terrible with no bank work for many years. Large parts of the beat are canal like. Uniform depth, flow etc no features to fish too. I wouldn't book this again as a trout angler.

River low and clear, cold easterly wind, hard fishing but managed 4 good fish between us on nymph and dry fly, also lost a few more

I was hoping for more water coming from the Elan but that was not the case yet, the river is on it’s bones.I started catching Grayling using a Spanish leader so stopped and started prospecting with the dry.
The biggest Trout was a very fat 17” which put a tremendous fight. That fish alone made the day worthwhile.
