A beautiful and spectacular place to fish, but no fish caught. Lost a small trout / char(?) on almost my last cast of a 5 hour stint. The walk to and from the lake is a bit of a trek, but not too grueling, even with some kit. Will try and return in the future.

Saw a few rising, and had a nibble or two on a dry fly, but didn't hook anything. Definitely needed my wading stick as the bottom was like walking on ball bearings. A nice day but outwitted by the fish.

It must be 5 years since I was here last , where has the time gone ! Seems like yesterday. Lydbrook is a stunning location , many many canoes here but didn’t interfere too much with the fishing , only a few oblivious idiots on their phones or swimmers not looking , but didn’t spoil the day.
It was quite literally a fish a chuck here , amazing ! All barbel were very small , biggest was 3lb but who cares when you’re having fun , it’s great to see them at this stage , hope for the future stocks . Catch of the day was a whopping chub just shy of 5lbs ,brilliant!
Most caught on pellet no loose feed needed here , and remainder caught rolling meat on the centre pin , great place to try this method . A fantastic day , weather perfect , river still quite low but great fun had by all , thanks WUF
