First time on this beat. 2 wbt to the net. First fish caught early on toward bottom end of the beat in faster water and was 6 inches or so, beautifully marked. Caught on a size 16 cdc quill jig nymph.

Next few hours were pretty tough going. A few olives (I think) coming off between 11am and 1pm but nothing rising.

I waded up most of the remaining beat to no avail and was about to give up when I found some fishy looking water towards the top. Second cast and I was locked in to a solid hard fighting fish that put a good bend in the 2wt.

Great location. Will be back

Beat:Craig Llyn

Craig Llyn is such an impressive beat with a variety of pools, pockets, runs and flats, water is gin clear. A challenging day to fish during an ENE weather front including hailstones at one point, an average temperature of around 5 degrees. However to my surprise there were a few March Browns coming off the water throughout the day between 11am and 3pm..I took advantage of this and caught 2 modest sized WBT on dry fly (March Brown Dun) kindly tied by Shaun the owner of the beat. Most of the day I was tight line nymphing, this is new to me, I have a lot to learn and through persistence I caught 1 WBT on a small PTN on dropper.

1 rod fished spiders - single trout, the other a dry fly (Jingler) accounted for 3 including a 1.5 pounder .
Rain held off until later so a warm still day with plenty rising mid pm.
Lovely beat, very accessible.
