Nice to get out and cast a line, lovely day, no salmon but that’s hardly a surprise on the 5th of March

Nice day out all round , Sun was shining and not too cold . One nice trout to the rod , bar that nothing else to report .

Lovely day. 1 grayling early in the session. Nothing for the rest of the day.

Tough day with conditions

Hard going as 4 of us fished for 2 chub and a chublet. River up, coloured, and dropping fast but plenty of spots to drop in. Cooler temps must have put the fish off somewhat. Next season!

3 Chub

It felt colder than the previous day with a biting downstream wind. The water was clear but higher than you would ideally like, making wading a bit tricky. We had a bit of sport to spiders at first and a trickle hatch of LDOs started with nothing taking them. At about 3pm a few March Browns started to show, nothing taking them at first but then a few splashy rises in one or two places and we managed a few on dries. Best fish was about 1.25lbs.

A chilly but bright day and the river pushing through as expected....Only one rod fished and a solitary Chub caught...Last hour produced a couple of tentative fast bites both of which were missed...Always a pleasure to fish here though and a great place to finish the season...

First visit to this stretch found it a bit pacy and shallow for this time of year so only stayed 2hrs,will try again in summer

3 Barbel, 1 Chub

The river was very high and coloured. Most of the beat was far too dangerous to fish. However, great news, The gravel catch was fishable and I managed a thoroughly enjoyable hour. No real prospect of a fish, but wonderful to be on the river so early in the year.

FOUND - a pair of wader boots

The following boots were on the side of the road on the Gromain Beat. I have put them in the main Gromain hut.
