Float fished red maggots on very light centre pin tactics. Weather was unseasonably warm at about 11degrees with some light rain and very blustery conditions.

Very enjoyable day, booking was very easy via website and Alison, my guide for the day Oliver Burch was outstanding and very good company, I will be back!

Very windy and blustery with accosional showers. River at normal levels and clear. The grayling were hard to find. I fished heavy nymphs and only managed two smallish grayling. There were two other anglers on the beat, but plenty of space for us all. I parked at the caravan site, and made the mistake of pulling onto the grass rather than the hard starting. This was silly of me, and resulted in a rather stern note on my windshield and then a prolonged telling off from the manager.

We fished from around midday until dusk despite being very quiet. Just one lost fish and a few pulls between us. Tried a range of nymphs at various depths but the usual spots weren't producing today. Still nice to be back on the river after too many months

Left home at 07:30 with the temperature gauge showing 11C. River at a good level and running clear, ideal for trotting the deeper pools. Four good grayling and 1 out of season trout caught, and plenty of small grayling. Beautiful sunny afternoon made wearing neoprene waders a little warm.

Low clear river on arrival .. trotting ted maggots .. 3xost. Then by 11am the river coloured up significantly - a colour best described as milky !! No more bite and river crept up throughout day .. very little rain on journey to venue from Shropshire and no significant puddles so not sure what caused the colour/ rise ?? I walked all way to sewage works and noted water cascading in to main from an outfall near water plant .. not sure if this is always the case or whether it was reason for milky colour … either way in terms of grayling fishing it dire .

Fishing Passport note: If you witness a discharge from a sewage treatment works, please report it to NRW on 0300 065 3000 or, if in England, to the Environment Agency on 0800 80 70 60 as soon as you can. This is in addition to reporting it through your catch return. Also, if you have your mobile phone or camera with you please take photos. There is a possibility that any such discharge is outside the treatment works consent, especially if in dry conditions. Your quick reporting and evidence will give the regulator the opportunity to check and investigate it.
