5 x grayling 12-17 inches, 1 x out of season trout 12 inches. A morning session, hard frost and grey skies. Not so much trotting today as laying on in slacks.

Very cold day, even colder overnight. River running low and fairly clear. First time pike fishing in a long time. Had one run on deadbait late in afternoon but did not connect.
Great part of the river though, with some slow steady parts and some faster streamy water. Even a beach... sort of.

River at 0.4 and falling on Peterchurch gauge. Visibility about 2'. Arrived at 10.30 with the sun shining, but still chilly in the wind. No fish, but did spook a large trout in the tail of one pool. Tried nymphs in the deep pools, and duo in the shallower areas. Lots of activity on the adjacent range, with plenty of gunfire. Also an RAF Hawk making multiple passes, might have something to do with the elaborate drone they had flying about.

First time to the Arrow. Lovely river to fish, plenty of shallow runs into deeper pools. Fished nymphs and bugs but could not locate any grayling today. Water running pretty clear so fish likely to have been easily spooked.
I’ll certainly be back in the spring.

Arrived to a lovely looking river, but -4 degrees. Fished for chub and caught 4 roving on meat. A good day considering temperature.
On the down side I was sickened to see 6 dead Swans and 1 Canadian geese! The only thing I can think of killing them must be Otters.
FISHING PASSPORT NOTE: If you come across dead waterfowl please report it to Defra as soon as you can on 03459 335577. This was potentially a case of avian flu, which has struck poultry in the Ross area recently.

Water down a few inches on Sunday's level and quite clear. Other than a couple of touches in the upper part of the beat, not much fish activity.
