This is a fantastic beat. I only had a couple of hours so didn’t really do it justice. Caught on a mix of Spiders and dry fly

1 Trout, 4 Grayling

Poor days fishing again. Not enough fish in there.

8 Barbel, 5 Chub

1 beautiful brownie, on a 3wt rod and a klinkhammer, a lot of takes missed through my age (slow reactions) and /or inexperience. very overcast and light upstream wind. A great few hours fishing.

2 anglers .14 chub on swim feeder and trotting, never seen wye so low

Arrived and the water was low and as expected but plenty of fish rising which was good to see..
I didn’t take long before the first of 7 were landed all around 6 - 8 inches and all in good upper wye condition, all landed on duo style with hairs ear nymph.

7 Trout

Water level quite low but otherwise conditions were perfect. Lots of surface activity. Most fish taken to emergers. Two of grayling 12"+ and ditto one of the trout. Otherwsie most fish in the 6-8" bracket. A very nice day of fishing in a very nice location.

Only one fished 53 chub and 3 barbel river still very low and clear.

The river had a dead feel to it, and I never really got going ; switching between dry and nymph (conventional, NZ and Euro style), with each method equally successful (or should that be unsuccessful?). Two heart stopping moments provided by a couple of decent sized Chub, one on a nymph, one on a dry. I have nothing against Chub, and spent a lot of my youth trying to catch them, but not what I got out of a warm bed at 05:30 this morning for
