Fished the bottom of the beat, all on dink nymphs, 3 salmon parr. Working my way to the fallen tree faster water searching for trout when a canoe came down. Nice. They claimed that the guide book said this was a good stretch to use. Nothing after that...
FP Note: This canoeist is like the poacher who claims the farmer gave him permission to fish. We are sorry to hear of this transgression of the upper Wye access arrangements. These were established to minimise the number of trespass incidents. By and large they do but there will always be a small percentage of canoeists who either don't read the large print, believe they can go where they like when they like, or quite enjoy a dust-up with a few anglers. Fortunately though, this is a small minority of paddlers. More information for anglers on canoeing can be found here: https://www.fishingpassport.co.uk/canoeing-advice-for-anglers

I started around 7am in the swim with the telephone wires below the cattledrink swim, the water level was around 1-2ft there. I tried on the bottom and trotting for a couple of hours, but only caught a small Eel on Luncheon meat. I moved to the woods area around 12:00 and fished for a couple of hours and added 2 more Eels to the collection! (biggest 2lb odd). I moved a bit further up and managed to find the Barbel. I had a very enjoyable afternoon hooking 4 Barbel between 6.8lb and 7.8lb on pellet and missing a couple more before leaving to hit the road to head home at 18:00. A picturesque venue, but limited in low water conditions, I look forward to coming back here when the water levels are higher :)

Fished fly from 9am -4pm. Walked half the reservoir and caught nothing. Have fished the usk for 30+ yrs and its really not what it used to be. I expect the odd blank day but its been yrs since I last had a good days fishing here. Not sure why I keep trying
