The river was low (0.65m on the Erwood gauge) so I didn’t have high hopes. I caught one brown trout in the Island pool but there were no salmon showing above Boughrood bridge. I continued to fish the left bank, going thorough Bridge Pool and finishing at the Mill Race. There were a few salmon rising in Ty Mawr pool, including one big double under the electricity cables (what is it with salmon and power lines/pylons?). Unfortunately they were unreachable with the fly from the left bank.

Overcast all day but the rain held off! Beautiful stretch of river giving up 5 decent chub and 1 double figure barbel. Can’t wait to go back for another session!

Always a delight to be on Middle Hill Court and a perfect place to fish in summer or autumn.....Fishing was very good despite the river being a murky brown colour.Caught 26 Chub and a few chublets on a combination of float and feeder tactics.Only one rod fished between 10 and 7pm so might have racked up quite a few more as this place always switches on late....Experimented with bait as getting loads of bites and it made no difference if I used pellet.corn or meat....the fish in the good conditions were having anything!! Just the one Barbel which was about 5 pounds to cap a terrific day.The only disappointment was the Chub were somewhat lethargic and did not fight that hard which was strange this early in the season and not the case when I fished at Wyebank next day. Thanks to owners and WUF for continuing to provide this splendid beat.

Level very low but with a bit of colour.
Fished a number of swims most of the Chub came in the morning from some fast water, the barbel 8lb 6oz came late on after catching a good number of small chub around 10 in the 1/2 lb size and a better one of 4lb in some steady water near the parking spot all on sweetcorn . A good well managed beat Thank you
