Great day on this lovely little river, really wild & very challenging fishing. Used my 8’ rod without issue though I can see why 7’ 3# is recommended. Saw lots of brownies and initially had several bites/rises in various pools. Water low but plenty of deep pools and some perfect riffles where I caught one fish of 10” and another of 6” in perfect condition on golden bead green/red nymph, both returned. Few flies about, though the odd rise, so stuck with nymphs.

Just got out of the water... My first day on river Wye... I have been a fly fisherman for over 25 years... but today... Today I got a good spanking... Saw no fish... Fished the duo from the bridge upstream... nyphs and wet flies on the way back... Changed over 30 flies... Spent a total of 7 hours on the water. NOTHING! The river looked perfect... maybe a little low... Maybe I am not just good enough. Anyway... Superb scenery. Will be back for revenge. ????

Disappointing day especially after fishing reasonably well last Sunday. Maybe lower level to blame. Ditto with previous other posts re. lost tackle and paddle boards landing on beaches.

First visit to this stretch. Didn’t find any barbel but lots of chub activity in the last couple of hours with fish to 4-10 on krill boilies.
